Job Description

Number of vacancies: 1 x 50% time (20h/ week)

Reports to: Employment Coordinator

Position & Project Duration: 8 months fixed-term (Aug 2022 - Mar 2023)

Working location: work from home

Working hours: 20h/week, flexible working times

Expected salary: £1000/month, for 8 months (Aug 2022 - Mar 2023).  


  • Support Employment Coordinator to conduct monthly Cantonese-language seminars, workshops and CV clinics for BN(O)s.

  • Support Employment Coordinator to handle and resolve employment-related enquiries and cases, support and share information with the project’s casework team where necessary.

  • Support Employment Coordinator to manage a bilingual employment information webpage, put up information and job advertisements for BN(O) job-seekers, and for UK employers seeking (BN(O)) employees. 

  • Support Employment Coordinator to communicate, liaise, collaborate and coordinate with employment delivery partner to support, share and promote activities.

    *SMP = Strategic Migration Partnerships, which host the welcoming hubs for BN(O)s in 12 regions across the UK

Person Specifications

Essential qualifications:

  • Educated to Degree level or above


Essential skills and qualities:

  • Knowledge of key issues in Hong Kong and/or UK’s employment and labour market sector

  • Project Management Skills

  • Fluency in spoken and written English and Cantonese

  • Ability to deliver work/employment related training

  • Ability to effectively collaborate and engage with colleagues and partners/stakeholders internally and externally

  • Ability to work independently, flexibly, calmly, and take on challenges with a positive attitude

  • Ability to initiate/self-start and solve problems

  • Ability to organise, develop work plans and schedules, meet deadlines and prioritise, work well under pressure

  • Ability to take and explain detailed, accurate information

  • Ability to provide regular project updates on progress and make timely adjustments as necessary

  • Ability to provide end-of-project detailed reports on goals met, outcomes achieved

  • Good IT literacy

  • Experience in using various social media platforms (e.g. Facebook, Twitter, Telegram, Signal)

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

  • Understanding of UK’s policies towards Hongkongers since July 2020

  • Understanding and sensitivity of the needs, issues and challenges of Hong Kong arrivals in UK


Desirable experience and knowledge in:

  • Working in or with trade/labour unions, chambers of commerce, employment agencies

  • Working in projects in full cycles

  • Working in multi-cultural projects and environments

  • Operating and managing websites

  • Good practices and methodologies in project management
